"Cyborg Cinderella? Definitely a new and thrilling idea! Cinder is a cyborg, which in her futuristic world also means she's an outcast. With a dead adoptive father, and a nasty step-mother and step-sister, there are only two people (one technically being an android), Peony and Iko, that she can consider as friends. When Peony falls ill to the disease that has been plaguing Earth, Cinder is blamed. Her step-mother wastes no time in sending Cinder to be a test subject in the fight for a cure, meaning a certain death. However, it becomes apparent that Cinder is special, unlike any other Earthen, and she ultimately becomes endangered. It doesn't help that Prince Kai has requested her help, and her attendance to the Ball."
What I liked: I loved the fairy tale twist that was spun out so cleverly that it was impossible to put down. Cinder was unique and different, yet at the same time so easy to relate to because she was in some ways just a teenager trying to fit in. There were so many plot twists and unexpected revelations throughout the book that held my eyes glued to the pages. The world we are put in is absolutely incredible, not to mention the Lunars and the technology!
Overall: Marissa Meyer did an outstanding job with this novel! I can’t wait to read Scarlet!
I would recommend this book to anyone interested in fantasy, fairy tales, romance, and dystopian societies! Definitely one of the most original books I’ve read in awhile!
