Spring Brings an End to our Freshman Year of College

Spring Brings an End to our Freshman Year of College

Life, Literature 2

So Caylin and I totally disappeared off the face of the earth… But… we’re back now and things are going to be better than ever. I’ll tell you why: First of all, we just finished up our finals and ended our freshman year of college. Why does that matter? Well, we’re on summer break until next September and we’ll have so much more time to read and blog, and most of all, actually do things with our lives. College + poor time management skills = failure…. Read more »

Caylin and I would like to wish you all a fabulous New Year! We hope 2016 is a hell of lot better than 2015! 2015 was hard. That’s not to say it was all bad, but… eh. We did get some pretty fantastic new music, books, and TV shows, though. Check below to see some of my favorite things from 2015, and feel free to leave some of your favorite 2015 debuts in the comments! Favorite 2015 Books I explored poetry a… Read more »

Review: Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen

4 Stars, Reviews 2

Every time I find out Sarah Dessen is releasing a new book I freak out and get super excited… but of course these announcements are always wayyy too early and by the time the book is released I forget because clearly my memory is a mess. If you guys remember the giveaway we hosted a few weeks ago, the winner, Anjanette, choose Saint Anything as the prize, and it fortunately reminded me that I also wanted to read this book. (Anjanette,… Read more »

Blog Tour Review: Truest by Jackie Lea Sommers

Blog Tour Review: Truest by Jackie Lea Sommers

4 Stars, Blog Tour, Reviews 0

my review Truest is a book that will tug at your heart in many ways: there’s an adorable romance, a tragic accident, some complicated family situations, and fortunately, lots of humor to help us through the emotions. Westlin is a small town girl, and she seems to really love it. She has a fabulous boyfriend, a well respected family and father, and a small but close group of friends. She’s pretty content with life, even if she has no clue… Read more »

Review: MARY: The Summoning by Hillary Monahan

Review: MARY: The Summoning by Hillary Monahan

4 Stars, Reviews 6

In an odd coincidence I ended up reading this book in bed while, across the room, Caylin was watching the Bloody Mary episode of Supernatural… and yet I was the only one who ended up having a nightmare three hours later. Go figure. Which leads to the obvious statement that this book is terrifying! Not only did I have nightmares, but I was freaked out for several hours after every time I would read this book. Warning: Do NOT read this at night… Read more »

Dirty Dancing: Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner!

Dirty Dancing: Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner!

Theatre 0

Nobody puts Baby in a corner. If you’ve read my about page, you probably know that I absolutely adore Dirty Dancing! It’s one of my favorite movies and has been since I was a little girl. I grew up watching it with my Grandma and my Mom, and it has so much mostly nostalgic meaning for me. When I was younger, I just loved the music and the dancing and the energy of all of it, and I still do. But now that I’m… Read more »

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Life 2

So I have a funny or really sad story to tell you all. The other day I was watching The Walking Dead on AMC, and of course the channel was advertising their Fear Feast movie event. In the advertisement, they showed a few flashes from the movie Halloween (1978).  At that point I had already been wanting to watch this movie because it’s one of my favorite movies to watch this season, and I managed to impulse-buy three movies from this… Read more »

Review: Let’s Get Lost by Adi Alsaid

I don’t know if any of you guys know this, but I have a very big dream to one day go on a road trip. And I don’t mean the kind with your parents and your annoying siblings where the entire trip is family orientated and planned down to the very last detail. Don’t get me wrong, I love those kind too, but I want to go on a road trip alone or with friends where it’s spontaneous and adventurous and just… focused on… Read more »

Hey guys! Caylin and I are excited to announce that we are doing a Fall themed giveaway here on the blog. I figured that because I never got a chance to do a giveaway for Strung Out On Books’ blogiversary, I might as well do one for my favorite season. Caylin thought it was a great idea as well, so here we are. Fall is our favorite season for many, many reasons: Halloween, sweaters, chilly weather, scary movies, spooky books,… Read more »

Let’s Catch Up: College and Halloween Fun!

Life 2

Hello, everyone! I’m going to be posting regularly again, although I am quite busy so it might not be as frequent as I’d like, which I hinted at it the other day when I introduced Caylin to the blog. If you missed our last post, be sure to head over and say hi to the newest blogger here at Strung Out On Books. Life has been pretty intense lately with classes and work and homework ahhhh but regardless of that I’ve been… Read more »
