WOW. This book exceeded my expectations by far. The summary is a little… off, in my opinion, I felt like it wasn’t descriptive enough. Most of all, I feel like it doesn’t do the book justice. Burnouts, Geeks, and Jesus Freaks was AMAZING. It was sweet, swoon-worthy, and sad, but in the end, it made you all smiley and tingly.

I have to mention that this book was bit more mature than I had anticipated, which wasn’t bad at all, it just took me by surprise. For younger readers, I’d recommend they stay away from this book. I’d suggest ages 17+ as the appropriate age group.

Carrie was such a well-developed character that I felt like I knew her. Like I was with her and could relate to her. Pretty much all of the characters were like this, really, and it amazes me.

Carrie and Ben are long-time friends, and the books follows them as they slowly, but surely, become more. This wasn’t just a story about them falling for each other, it was so much more. It was about who they are, were, and will  be. How they changed each other, and become one. How they didn’t just fall for each other, but ended up completing each other. I’m starting to sound mushy. Point is, this is a book you do not want to pass up, especially if you are a fan of romance, new adult, and friends-to-lovers tales.

I did have a few problems with this book, though, which is why I rated it a 4 instead of a 5, and even considered a 3.5. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, don’t get me wrong, the ending felt abrupt and too fast, which was different from the slow, but steady pace of the rest of the book. There were also a few grammar mistakes I noticed, but they weren’t too distracting. Overall, the pros outweighed the cons for this book, and I would definitely recommend this book.

If you do decide to pick up this book, be prepared to fall for Ben and cheer on Carrie and his relationship from the start! 😉
