Top Ten Authors I’ve Only Read One Book From But NEED to Read More

Top Ten Tuesday

I often get carried away with new authors and tend to leave sequels and second books by authors I already love behind, so this is a bit of a wake-up for me to get on with reading more of these authors’ books!

Top Ten Eight Authors I’ve Only Read One Book From But NEED to Read More:

  1. Lauren Oliver! I’ve only read Before I Fall and I MUST get my hands on the Delirium trilogy and Panic!
  2. Melissa Delport!  I just read the first book in her trilogy and fell in love! The second book is on the top of my TBR!
  3. Elizabeth Eulberg! Better Off Friends was SO cute! I must read more of her works!
  4. Isaac Marion! I thought Warm Bodies was hilarious and touching!
  5. J. Sterling! I didn’t love The Perfect Game, but I did enjoy. I’ve heard such great things about her other books, though!
  6. Cassandra Clare! So I was frustrated with book one of the Mortal Instruments, so I put off the series for a while. Now I am wanting to finish it!
  7. Jay Asher! Most people have heard of Thirteen Reasons Why, and I thought it was a good book, despite some issues, and I’m curious about his other books.
  8. Deb Caletti! I barely remember the book I read by Caletti, but I remember that I enjoyed it. So I am set on reading more of her books!

  1. For Lauren Oliver, I have read Before I Fall (loved it), Delirium (liked it), and Panic (what is this I don’t even). Still, she definitely has a way with words and I’ll always be curious about her other books.

I’m never going to touch Cassandra Clare’s books with a ten-foot pole. There is such a shitstorm around this woman what with plagiarism and bullying, and I am staying far away from that.

Jay Asher – I’ve read Thirteen Reasons Why, and while I really liked the premise, I didn’t like the execution. Nevertheless, I’d still pick up another book. I rarely judge an author based on one book (unless it’s Fifty Shades of Grey).

I’ve read Stay by Deb Caletti and I liked that as well, though I did have some issues with it. But she also has a way with writing, and her book blurbs sound very good.

    1. Haha! I wasn’t even aware of anything going on with Cassandra Clare! I think I’ll continue with the series though, since I started it.

I’ve heard a lot of similar things about Jay Asher’s book. I really liked Thirteen Reasons Why but I did read it a LONG time ago and I probably would be more picky about it now.

  2. I adore Lauren Oliver! Delirium is amazing. The rest of the trilogy is fine, but the first is fabulous. I haven’t read Panic yet, but I will soon. She’s a writer that I automatically buy. Can’t wait to see what you think!

    1. I’m glad to hear that! I have the first book on my kindle, so as soon as I get the time I’ll read it! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Panic when you do read it! 🙂

  3. I haven’t read any of the books you mention, but I have the same situation….lol.
I’ve read “Shadow and Bone”, and need to read the other two books in the trilogy. Also, I sort of have the reverse situation: I’ve read the first 3 books in The Demon Trappers series, but need to read the last one!

As for The Mortal Instruments series, I have the first four books. I’ve GOT to start on this series!!

I’m going to check out the other authors & books you’ve mentioned. Thanks for sharing!! : )

  4. I’m not familiar with all of the authors on your list, but I do highly encourage you to keep reading Cassandra Clare! I actually prefer her trilogy, The Infernal Devices, but I found The Mortal Instruments series very enjoyable as well. Although I can see where your frustration with the 1st book comes from, City of Bones wasn’t the best. The series improves a lot though, in my opinion!
I haven’t read Before I Fall, but it sounds very interesting. I wasn’t overly impressed by the Delirium trilogy, unfortunately. The first book was quite good, the second alright, the third was a disappointment :/ I hope you have a better experience with them than I did!

    1. I think I’ll re-read the first book just to get back into the world, and then will continue with the series asap! 🙂 I’ve heard similar things about Delirium but I’m curious anyway! haha. Before I Fall was an ‘eh’ book for me but I did like the writing. Thanks! 🙂

  5. Oh, please, do continue The Mortal Instruments series! It is so goooooood. *.* Alec & Magnus xx Do you like M/M romance? 🙂 Also, ha yeah, I only read book one in the Delirium series by Lauren Oliver…oh wait. I also read Panic. Which wasn’t very good. :/

    1. I plan to! I have a (slowly) shrinking stack of books to read before I can get around to continuing it, but I will! I’ve heard a lot of mixed things lately about Delirium and Panic, so I’m definitely going to be cautious when I start them.

    1. Really? I’m glad to hear that you liked Delirium so much! I plan to read it but I’ve heard some bad things about it. Hopefully, I’ll like it. As for Cassandra Clare, I didn’t like the first book I read by her, but I’ve been encouraged to give her another try, so it might have just been my mood. Thanks for commenting!
